Each year Chester Bach Singers puts on four main concerts, one of which is usually a large-scale work with an orchestra, performed in Chester. Other concerts, often involving soloists and instrumentalists, are held at a variety of different venues in the Chester area.
The cost over the year of providing performances to the high standard for which Chester Bach Singers is known throughout the Northwest and North Wales is considerable. The professional fees for soloists, the cost of an orchestra and other instrumentalists as well as the substantial hire charges for the Cathedral, other concert venues and rehearsal rooms are such that ticket sales cover only a small proportion of the total costs. The remainder is met through a combination of choir members’ subscriptions, grants, sponsorship and the choir’s own fund-raising activities.
