Chester Bach Singers’ Musical Director, Martin Bussey, will be retiring from CBS after 38 remarkable and busy years at the helm. His final concert will be Bach’s Mass in b minor on 22nd March 2025.
As a choir, we all see and understand Martin’s dedication to CBS. We see his hard work, his careful planning of the music that we sing, and his enthusiastic conducting on the day of a concert to achieve the best standard possible.
For all of this we – and we’re sure our audiences – are very, very grateful.
When the CBS committee thought about a leaving gift for Martin, we decided that handing over a porcelain vase, or a National Trust membership, or a cheque was not the right thing! So, we came up with the idea of supporting a performance of one of his own compositions.
This is an area that Martin wants to spend more time on in his retirement. We approached Martin with the idea and he was very excited about it as it helps knowing that there is some support for a future concert – or even a premiere of a new piece of his music.
With this in mind the committee would appreciate any donation – big or small.
We have set up an online Collection Pot** which can be accessed by clicking here:
The pot is open until the end of March.
All donations will be making a difference to an exciting musical venture in the future.
